Our house
In 1987 Paustian built their iconic furniture house and restaurant, designed by the world-famous architect Jørn Utzon in collaboration with his sons, Kim and Jan Utzon.
Back then, we were the pioneer builders of the harbour area. Later, we were joined by other striking buildings (the white city at Nordhavn), all designed by Kim Utzon.
The inspiration to our house is the Danish beech forest that is reflected in the shimmering sea. The architectural framework takes shape in a few simple, standardised building components; columns and girders. It’s a building in peace and harmony with itself and with respect for its surroundings.
The ceramic decorations are created by Jørn Utzon’s daughter, the artist and textile designer Lin Utzon.
The Paustian house is one of only a few Utzon buildings in Denmark.
Food and beverages
We love Danish produce – it offers a rich and varied gastronomic tradition in a contemporary format. Everything we serve is homemade from fresh, quality produce, and we prepare our dishes with the greatest possible care and craftsmanship. We also love to brag about our house mineral water, which is cleaned and filtered using an active charcoal filter to protect the environment.
Our menu is à la carte, but we are always open to creating a set menu for larger parties (minimum 10 guests).
During the summer, we also offer charming outdoor courtyard seating. And when the weather permits, we fire up the barbecue.

Kids and cars are welcome
Your children are always welcome. We serve them the same food as we serve to adults. And remember, there's always parking at Paustian - and it's free! If you're taking public transportation, the closest S-train station is Nordhavn. From there, it’s a pleasant 12-minute walk to our restaurant.

And we can tell you all about them. We can arrange any type of party or event at Paustian, and we can hold it in the restaurant and furniture house or in your home.
